If you haven’t heard the buzz, our newly decorated model at The Village at Summerset has been finished for just a few weeks.  In order to show it off, I’ve been hosting “open houses” there on Saturdays.  It’s a great chance for the neighbors to come and gawk, and for smart people to see the magnificent home their hard-earned money can buy.  I enjoy meeting the people that come in, hearing their stories and essentially providing solutions to their problems.  Sometimes people say the most interesting things!

For example:  last weekend, I had a gentleman that intends to move from South Carolina in the coming months.  “I own 10 acres and that’s just stupid,” he confided in me. Like so many of our homeowners, he enjoys the beach, an active lifestyle, and wants minimal maintenance so that he can travel.  That’s what buyers find so enticing about the Village at Summerset.  The homes in The Village at Summerset are built around a particular lifestyle, not the other way around.  It’s a lifestyle that’s carefree and easy going, homeowners don’t need to dread the coming weekend’s to-do list.  Instead, the to-do lists are built around going to the beach, going shopping or dining out!

I really liked that quote, “I own 10 acres and that’s just stupid”.  But even more I appreciated his next thought, “If you didn’t enjoy today, take stock, because life goes by too quickly.”

It’s the 80 degree days like today when dining al fresco for lunch or dinner is a must.  Fortunately, when you live in The Village at Summerset, you don’t have far to go to fill that desire.  Here’s just 5 of our favorites.

1. Fish House – Not only can you dine al fresco, but you can dine beside the glistening water of the ICWW.

2. South Beach Grill – One of our favorites on the beach for a fabulous burger or salad on the patio.

3. Brasserie duSoleil – At Lumina Station. (we enjoy treating our buyers for lunch to take a break from their selections meetings) Warning, if you order the make your own salad, prepare to be overwhelmed.

4. Sandwich Pail – locally owned at the Landfall Shopping Center.  If you like Egg Salad, try theirs!

5. Pack Your Own! Stop by Robert’s Grocery at Wrightsville Beach and pick up a pint (or two) of their famous chicken salad or pimento cheese.  Grab your beach chair and enjoy your lunch at the beach gazing at the beautiful ocean. Now, this is the life!

With so many options, I’m sure if you are local or have ever visited, you’ll have a favorite, too.  What is it?

If you are anywhere near Wrightsville Beach, you are well aware of the perfectness that was Saturday.  For some reason, I signed up to host an open house during the day at our newest model.  How thankful was I that there is a front porch with a rocking chair at the model home?

It’s the first time I worked an open house in that particular neighborhood.  I didn’t realize how all the neighbors seem to get out and enjoy themselves.  Several washed their cars, many rode their bikes and even more were out walking their dogs.  I was able to catch up with a neighbor who used to work in the mortgage industry that I hadn’t seen in a long time.  She and I chatted about how wonderful it was to live in that area, with the beach, the shopping, the proximity to downtown.  She said she was never going to move (and sparked my jealousy!)

If you haven’t been by the new model yet, be sure to stop in and introduce yourself next Saturday from 11 – 2pm.  I’d love to hear why you would love to live in the area!

We told you how cool it was living near the beach, maybe that’s why nearly 2500 people are going to be running around Wrightsville Beach this weekend.

This Sunday, the 20th, starting at 6:30 am is the Wrightsville Beach Quintiles Marathon.  You can get the course map here.

The weather looks to be awesome, low 70′s so if you want to cheer on the participants you can do so by walking over to Mayfaire Town Center and cheering them from Military Cutoff, or go down to the Wrightsville Beach Park and wish them well from the start.

If you’re running in the race this year, we’d love to hear how long you trained, how many other marathons you’ve participated in and how you did in this race.

So there’s a ton to love about Wrightsville Beach.  I mean, c’mon, it’s a beach.  Hands down, it’s the most popular beach around.  That’s apparent by the traffic on any given day in the summer.  And forget about getting there via car if it’s a holiday like July 4th (unless you get there around 4 am).

If you’re a beach-goer and living at the Village at Summerset you don’t need to worry about finding a parking spot (and then paying for said parking spot), simply hop on your bike and peddle down.  The Village at Summerset is exactly 1.5 miles to the bridge.

For fun, take a look at the cars you pass while biking to the beach.  You’ll be having to turn over on your blanket to avoid a burn before they make it to their parking space (if they find a parking space)
